Okay so I lied a little in the post title. Today’s UK fixed odds football fixtures hardly warrant the title Super Sunday but nonetheless there are some attractive games amongst them. The more I look at some of the matches being played today the more I’m convinced there’s going to be a few draws in what looks like some very tight games. So my football betting tips for this weekend are going to go for the X factor. My recommended unit stakes are going to be low because of the risk factor involved but if one of my selected draws finishes all square then we’ll have banked a very small profit. All three would be very nice. Here’s my tips from this Sunday’s UK football fixed odds list once again using my StopSteadyGo betting rating. Red Text - Stop – Consider your wager because I rate this a risky bet. Amber Text – Steady – A reasonable fancy but don’t bet too high. Green Text - Go – What I consider to be a banker bet but as always don’t gamble more than you can afford to lose. Odds are from Paddy Power. Swindon Town & Oxford United to draw (9/4) – 1 point West Ham United & Leeds United to draw (11/4) – 1 point [...]

The 140th Open Golf Championship enters its third round stage today at Royal St George’s, Sandwich, Kent, and with big gun Tiger Woods missing from the tournament and world ranked number one and two Luke Donald and Lee Westwood both missing the halfway cut the competition looks wide open. -4: D Clarke (NI), L Glover (US) -3: C Campbell (US), M Kaymer (Ger), T Bjorn (Den), MA Jimenez (Sp) -2: P Larrazabal (Sp), C Schwartzel (SA), D Love (US), T Lehman (US), G Coetzee (SA), D Johnson (US), A Hansen (Den) The leaderboard (above) after round two has some big names on it but only Germany’s Martin Kaymer is currently ranked in the world’s top ten and many will fancy backing one of two top golfers fighting to get in amongst the leading pack by posting a sub par round today. Four times major winner Phil Micxkelson is handily placed at one under and Northern Ireland’s recent US Open winner Rory McIlroy is on level par making them both attractive choices in the betting market. However my money is going on a 42 year old once ranked in the world’s top ten but currently way down in the rankings at [...]

Nothing says ‘football withdrawal symptoms’ more than feigning interest in Fulham’s Europa League 1st Qualifying Round tie, but thankfully the Copa America starts this weekend and researching Peru’s record at the South American championships is substantially less embarrassing than being caught checking out NSÍ Runavík’s recent form in Faroe Islands Premier League. The good news is you can watch all of the Copa America for FREE on paddypower.com. All you need is to have a minimum of one penny or cent in your Paddy Power account and a strong cup of coffee to keep you awake for some of the later kick-offs. Sign up for a Paddy Power betting account by clicking on the banner on the right and enjoy live Copa America football for free.

Wimbledon opened its gates today as start of play got under way in one of sports major calender events. Its Grand Slam time once again in London SW19 as tennis places one foot on the baseline and nets the attention of sports fans worldwide. Picking the winner of the men’s singles is never easy but this year the choice is surely between the top four seeds in the tournament who are listed below with their Paddy Power betting odds. Rafael Nadal 11/5 Novak Djokovic 7/2 Roger Federer 9/4 Andrew Murray 5/1 In what is a difficult choice I’m going for the old man of the quartet and picking six times Wimbledon champion Roger Federer to take the crown and lift his 17th Grand Slam title. The 29 year old right hander from Switzerland is still a major force on the tennis circuit and despite the youth of his other three major rivals I fancy Federer to make it seven Wimbledon titles. It’s a tough one to call but I’m placing 3 points on Federer at 9/4 with Paddy Power. Photo source Wikipedia

The English football league calender has now entered the time of year where teams are pushing hard for titles, scrapping against relegation and for some mid table mediocrity means many players just go through the motions of playing the beautiful game. It is a time of year when the form book is at times no use at all. For this very reason my football fixed odds tips for this week concentrate solely on the big boys of their respective divisions. In an effort to get value from my selections I’ve grouped all three of my picks together to form a very risky treble. In football points win prizes, but in the world of football fixed odds bets, betting slip trebles more often than not litter the bookmaker’s floor. My bet is a risky five point treble which pays 13.93 points if it comes in. All three of my selections should win, but it’s that time of year when football’s form book has no bearing on many results. Here’s my tips from this Saturday’s UK football fixed odds list once again using my StopSteadyGo betting rating. Red Text - Stop – Consider your wager because I rate this a risky bet. Amber Text [...]
